The Ohio Diaries | A Day At The Zoo
The Ohio trip is coming to an end, and with it, The Ohio Diaries. Personally speaking, it's been a fabulous, and interesting, week of exploration and contemplation. One that began with the idea for this project after many months of burning the candle at both ends, and one that will conclude with new perspectives on life, work, art, and purpose. Stated like that, I suppose it sounds pretty profound. Maybe I'm just blowing it out of proportion... or maybe I'm not.
Today we spent most of our time together as a family, traveling around the city and ultimately ending up at the Cleveland Zoo. It's the first time I've been to a zoo outside of the one in my home town. Afterwards, we had ice cream and returned to the hotel where the boys enjoyed an evening with their in-town babysitter.
A quiet dinner was the true highlight of the day, where the two of us sat for hours and watched the sun go down. We talked together across a spectrum of topics, ranging from family to the future of the tech industry. Amber-colored light from the tail-end of the golden hour spilled onto our table and washed across my wife's face. Without the boys at the table with us, I couldn't tell if we were in our twenties or our forties. When the sun finally set and our evening came to an end, we both looked across the way and queried out loud: I wonder what tomorrow will bring?
