Giving Thanks

In the rush of our day-to-day, it's easy to let slip those things we're most thankful for. Every day, each morning seems to come too early, then, rushing from one thing to the next, night suddenly falls and we start again. Thanksgiving has always felt like a pause button to me; a time to slow things down and to thoughtfully reflect on all that we have. This year was no exception, and in the final hours of the day I took a walk around the yard as the sun was setting, thinking about the year. It was one too easy to be pulled into the negative. One too easy to lose sight of what matters. But watching the sun go down, with the late-day light tickling the trees, all the noise fell away. Only gratitude remained.
